Chapter 66 66: 38 First Enhancement, Evolution Blood! [Two-in-one for more follow-up reading]

In a seemingly ordinary laboratory within Zone C on Level B3 of the Truth Seeker Society's main base.

A cold, bluish light poured from the strips of lights embedded in the ceiling, making the room full of icy machines seem even more desolate.

When the time on the oval-shaped wall clock reached 4:12, accompanied by a faint roar as the pneumatic door slid open, a man with an unremarkable face walked in.

He was the Chairman of the Truth Seeker Society, renowned as one of the most dangerous people globally, listed at the top of the bounty lists by the Dark Web alongside the leaders of the other four major powers.

"Has Julia woken up?"

The Chairman asked with an expressionless face, addressing the person in a white lab coat standing beside the circular machine.

The one in the white lab coat responded, "She woke up ten minutes ago, but her mental state isn't very good."

"Whether her spirit is good or not isn't important, I have something to ask her."

Half an hour earlier, the Chairman had received a message from a spy infiltrated within the ranks of the Genetic Primordial, informing him that the action squad sent to the Abandoned Cooling Factory had been completely wiped out. The Genetic Primordial urgently convened a meeting, planning to launch a new round of attacks against the Truth Seeker Society. He was eager to find out exactly what had happened at the Abandoned Cooling Factory.

The one in the white lab coat nodded, manipulated the circular machine for a while and before long, the thick, square-headed display in front lit up, showing Julia on the screen.

Different from the highly spirited Julia at the Abandoned Cooling Factory, this Julia looked lethargic. She wore a white patient gown, her neck fastened to the bed board with a silver-white metal collar, and her forehead, wrists, and ankles were stuck with many blue or red wires.

The Chairman cut straight to the point, "Tell me everything that happened to you at the Abandoned Cooling Factory."

Julia slowly opened her eyes and began to explain, "An unknown group of outsiders appeared at the Abandoned Cooling Factory, likely dispatched by the Genetic Primordial. Seven disobeyed my orders, insisting on teaching them a lesson, which led to our exposure. Then, these outsiders coordinated an attack on the Wildfire Gang with the Genetic Primordial's special agents."

"And then you all died?"

"Those outsiders were not afraid of death; even after I took control of their companions, they showed no fear. Under their relentless assault, my fake body wasn't strong enough and control was compromised, allowing someone to break free. They seized that opportunity to kill my fake body."

Julia spoke with nonchalance, deliberately being vague when mentioning Bai Fu. She didn't say that Bai Fu had broken free of her restraints; instead, she claimed it was her negligence in loosening control over Bai Fu.

As expected, the Chairman's attention was not on Bai Fu.

"Are you implying that the failure of the operation is because the fake body I provided was too weak?"

The Chairman stepped forward, placing his right hand on top of the monitor.

"Julia, you must really want to kill me, desiring to tear off my skin inch by inch."

Julia neither confirmed nor denied.

The Chairman narrowed his eyes slightly, "Normally, I would ignore your insinuations, but this time, I want to do something different. Ed, get Julia a stronger fake body."

The one named Ed, wearing the white lab coat, was taken aback, "Chairman, isn't that inappropriate? What if she turns around and wants to kill you after getting a new fake body?"

"Don't worry," the Chairman said with composure, "She's a smart person. She won't act before ensuring the safety of those acquaintances back home. Right, Julia?"

Julia simply closed her eyes.

The Chairman laughed, "The Truth Seeker Society is vast, gathering all sorts of people. I don't care about your pasts or what you want. As long as you can be a force to help me attain the truth, even if you wish to kill me, I can turn a blind eye."

At this point, he suddenly paused, as if he was brewing emotions.

"Julia, if you want to kill me, then diligently complete the tasks I give you. For every task you complete, I will provide you with a stronger fake body. Once you finish all the tasks I give you, I won't mind letting you go, and then you can come to seek your revenge on me."

Julia was so furious her back teeth were nearly crushed.

This wave of mockery hit its peak, but given the current situation, she had no choice but to swallow it and continue working for the Truth Seeker Society.

Luckily, she wasn't without means of fighting back. If she could get her hands on Bai Fu, if she could figure out why Bai Fu was able to break free of her control, the tables would turn. She would then make the Truth Seeker Society Chairman pay dearly for his arrogance!

"Get the experimental data from her, then start the new experiment immediately."

After instructing Ed, the Chairman promptly left the laboratory, having assigned a new mission to the Combat Department below—

Eliminate Bai Fu, Yago, and Xia Shi!

"I will immediately dispatch an assassin and have our spy embedded with Lynn coordinate the operation. With me, the eradication is assured, please rest easy, Chairman!"

The Chairman nodded in satisfaction.

If he couldn't kill the leader of the Genetic Primordial, could he really not deal with three mere lackeys?

He didn't take this matter too much to heart; he had many things on his plate. He needed to focus his energies on military matters because the Truth Seeker Society was about to launch an unprecedented assault on the Genetic Primordial.

...

Because Bai Fu didn't know when the Players would return, she immediately swung into action after meeting with Yago and Xia Shi.

She initially planned to spend a day building the Monument, but she underestimated her popularity at the Abandoned Cooling Factory following the Insect Tide incident. Now she had the reputation of a Savior—she could barely stand on the roadside without several passersby greeting her and offering her food.
